Morgan
Park Baptist Church 11024 S. Bell Ave.
The founding pastor of Morgan Park Baptist Church was Thomas W. Goodspeed,
who was also secretary of the Morgan Park Theological Seminary.
Goodspeed
was the first man to approach John D. Rockefeller about founding a new University
in Chicago.
In due course, Rockefeller founded the University of Chicago,
the Seminary became the Divinity School, and Goodspeed a key Trustee of the
new University.
Meanwhile, the church he founded is still going strong today,
with Bible-oriented worship and a mix of old-style hymns and praise songs.
Rudy lives in Hyde Park and is happy to give rides.
